Important Safety Information: Dichlorvos Treatment Procedures

Please read these instructions carefully before and after your scheduled pest management service involving Dichlorvos.

Due to the specific nature and severity of the pest infestation identified on your premises, First Care Services has recommended a targeted treatment involving the controlled use of the insecticide, Dichlorvos. Dichlorvos is a powerful and highly effective chemical used for severe pest challenges, but it is a toxic substance that can cause adverse reactions, particularly in sensitive individuals.

As an accredited provider of new-generation pest management solutions, First Care Services prioritizes the safety of your occupants, pets, and the environment. It is absolutely critical that you understand and strictly adhere to ALL the following safety procedures before and after the treatment. Your full cooperation is essential for a safe and successful outcome.

Before Treatment: Your Essential Preparations

To ensure the safety and effectiveness of the Dichlorvos treatment, please complete the following preparations prior to our arrival:

• Food and Utensils: Remove or securely seal all food items (including those in cupboards) and remove or cover all food preparation surfaces and utensils.

• Sensitive Materials: Cover all plastics (e.g., stereos, computers, televisions) and all leather goods (e.g., sofas, chairs, upholstered furniture) with a protective sheet.

• Evacuation of Occupants: All people, including staff, residents, and visitors, along with all pets, birds, and plants, MUST BE REMOVED from the premises before the treatment commences.

  • Aquariums: If removal of aquariums presents a problem, they may be covered with a double layer of impermeable film (e.g., Gladwrap™ or similar heavy-duty plastic sheeting) and the aeration pump MUST be switched off. Please note: First Care Services CANNOT accept any responsibility for the fish or marine life in this situation.

• Open Flames & Appliances: All naked lights, pilot lights (for gas stoves, water heaters, etc.), and other ignition sources must be switched off.

• Sealing the Area: Ensure the treatment area is properly sealed. All doors and windows must be tightly closed, and all fans and air-conditioning units turned off to prevent gas escape or circulation.

• Personnel Notification: You MUST advise all personnel who may access the premises of the scheduled treatment. Specifically, people with asthma, respiratory conditions, or any chemical sensitivities MUST remain out of the premises for at least 24 hours after treatment and until full ventilation. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for Dichlorvos are available upon request.

• Cupboards & Storage: Open all cupboards, drawers, and storage areas within the treatment zone to allow for maximum gas penetration.

• Fire & Smoke Detection: If fire detection or smoke detector systems exist within the treatment area, you MUST notify the Fire Brigade prior to the commencement of treatment.

• Vacation Period: THE PREMISES or TREATED STRUCTURES MUST BE VACATED FOR A MINIMUM OF FOUR (4) HOURS after the application begins.

After Treatment: Re-entry and Ventilation Procedures

The safe re-entry into the treated premises depends entirely on adequate ventilation. Your strict adherence to these steps is paramount:

• THOROUGH VENTILATION REQUIRED: THE PREMISES MUST BE THOROUGHLY VENTILATED PRIOR TO RE-ENTRY OF THE OCCUPANTS OR REUSE OF THE STRUCTURE. Do not re-enter until advised by our technician and after completing the following ventilation steps.

• Initial Ventilation: Upon return to the exterior of the premises, all doors, windows, and ventilators should be opened to allow fresh air to circulate. The area must be thoroughly ventilated for a minimum period of thirty (30) minutes before re-entry of non-essential personnel or occupants.

• Continuous Air Circulation: Air-conditioners and ventilation systems MUST be switched on in ‘open vent mode’ (so they are bringing in fresh, outside air), and left in this mode for the remainder of the day (minimum of four hours after re-occupation) to ensure complete air exchange.

• Large Structures: For large structures such as grain silos, warehouses, or extensive commercial premises, considerably longer ventilation periods will be required. These may also necessitate forced air ventilation using powered fans or other specialised equipment to ensure gas levels are below safe re-entry thresholds. Our technician will provide specific instructions for such scenarios.

By proceeding with this Dichlorvos treatment, you acknowledge receipt and explanation of the above safety procedures and agree to fully comply with them. You understand that any problems or adverse events caused by your failure to heed this advice and follow these instructions are your sole responsibility.
